  • Overview

    The Principal Civil/Structural Engineer will be part of a multi-discipline project team, and will be responsible for all aspects of civil and structural engineering and design required for project execution.  Principal Civil/Structural Engineers shall be responsible for all engineering phases from proposal, basic, detail, construction, and commissioning.

    Responsibilities

    The Principal Civil/Structural Engineer shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    • Ensure project compliance with respective client specifications and codes.
    • Provide definition of Civil/Structural scope of supply on any given proposal / project.
    • Development of Civil/Structural specifications (customize / company Standard).
    • Perform foundation analysis and design for open as well as pile foundations.
    • Preparation of technical specifications, inquiries, and technical bid evaluations and recommendations.
    • Ensure that all codes & standards, statutory requirements, and client specifications are fully implemented.
    • Ensure that local best practice design is applied during all project phases for competitive and cost- effective procurement and construction.
    • Ensure that project technical requirements are properly incorporated in to specifications during both the proposal & the project.
    • Maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of the work performed by himself and the members of his technical group.
    • Support proposal activities and provide cost estimates.
    • Monitor and control, to the extent possible, the discipline budget.
    • Coordinate and/or participate in internal and external design reviews.
    • Provide technical support for construction, commissioning, inspections and testing.
    • Technical co-ordination with all disciplines related to engineering effort.
    • Interface with Materials Control system, to ensure commodity purchase.
    • Interface with Construction team to ensure construction integrity.
    • Develop/maintain standard design spreadsheets and specifications for engineered items.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions and decisions.

    Qualifications

    • BS/BA in civil/structural Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 8 or more years relevant experience in process plant engineering and design in EPC company.
    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) Certificate of Registration is highly desirable.
    • Working knowledge of International Codes and Standards.
    • Complete familiarity with respective industry Codes / standards.
    • Familiarity with Site Grading and Drainage design basics.
    • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, Lotus Notes and other Company and discipline specific software applications, such as Staad Pro, Mathcad, and Autocad.
    • Familiarity with 3D CAD software (PDS and/or Smart 3D) and interfaces with 3rd Party analysis software.
    • Perform Structural analysis and design calculations utilizing industry standard software, e.g. Staad Pro.
    • Understanding of workflow within an engineering company environment.
    • Effective conflict management skills, both technical and interpersonal.
    • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, including background in problem solving techniques such as Six Sigma or Lean.
    • Ability to work in a multicultural environment, with exposure to project execution in a global work share teams as well as international machine vendors.
