  • Overview

    The Estimator will continue the development of Hydro-Chem’s specific estimating tools and prepare and issue estimates for the Business Units. The Estimator will also assist with the development and maintenance of standard methods of estimating. Position is based in Holly Springs, GA.

    Responsibilities

    The Estimator shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    • Responsible for all facets of the Engineering, Procurement and Fabrication cost estimating.
    • Plan, organize, prioritize, control, and execute the estimating effort for the Business Unit in accordance with company policies and procedures in a business-like, efficient, productive and organized manner.
    • Review client inquiries and specifications. Prepare, coordinate, review and distribute estimates in accordance with established Workflow and Work Instructions. When required, prepare and conduct the estimate challenge prior to submittals.
    • Prepare lists of estimated equipment, material quantities, and labor for on-module and off-module work for a given proposal or project, as required.
    • Prepare RFQ packages to vendors/subcontractors and review subsequent quotes.
    • Re-estimate equipment, fabrication and/or construction material and labor cost estimates as requested by project management, as required.
    • Re-estimate discipline engineering hours using internal guidelines as well as input from the discipline engineers.
    • When required, support the construction estimator with the preparation of construction estimation packages and incorporate the result in the overall estimate.
    • Prepare estimates for Job Change Notices (JCN), providing detailed backup as required.
    • Prepare estimates for company’s customer service group (PLANTSERV™).
    • Coordinate and consolidate all estimates into approved Linde Engineering North America, Inc. formats and reports.
    • Prepare reports and analysis pertinent to estimating as requested by management.
    • Document technical/commercial discussions and agreements from inception through award to ensure a seamless transition from sales to execution.
    • Document deviations to company policies.
    • Prepare initial assessment of the technical, financial, schedule or any other unusual risks associated with the estimate, ensuring that the exposure to risk is fully compatible with the Company’s requirements, as required.
    • Secure the necessary assistance from proposals, projects, engineering and/or other Linde Group entities to insure the technical compliance and strategy on a specific proposal is sound, complete and of best value.
    • Maintain current Unit Rates and Material cost data via quotations and supplier agreements from various material suppliers, fabricators and other service suppliers, via Procurement Department or otherwise.
    • Develop, maintain and sharpen estimating procedures and methods. Ensures that lessons learned, escalation and design changes are accurately reflected in new estimates.
    • Attend site visits as required.
    • Perform other activities in support of the Business Units as required.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions and decisions.

    Qualifications

    • BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 5 years estimating experience in process plants or related industries preferred.
    • Experience in project engineering or execution is a plus.
    • Experience in mechanical engineering is a plus.
    • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, SAP and other Company and discipline specific software applications.
    • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
    • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
    • Ability to read P&IDs is preferred.
    • Attention to detail.
