  • Overview

    Responsible for overall successful operation of the Legal Services Department, including all company subsidiaries and divisions, in accordance with corporate strategies and business objectives


    The Head of Legal Services shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    • Coordinate company legal activities and liaison with outside counsel.
    • Perform duties and responsibilities of Compliance Officer.
    • Coordinate company compliance programs and provide training as needed.
    • Prepare legal reports as needed.
    • Provide legal advice for commercial and technical departments with special emphasis on contracts in an international environment.
    • Draft, negotiate and advice on contracts, such as cooperation agreements, sales representation agreements, license agreements, complex project agreements, general terms, and conditions.
    • Support Global Construction Department in contracts.
    • Support Contract Management department regarding E/EP/EPC contracts.
    • Support affiliates of Linde AG, Engineering Division in corporate matters.
    • Handle and manage claims and legal proceedings in co-operation with external counsel.
    • Support and contribute to legal management initiatives (not related to specific transactions) including risk management, legal awareness training, standard contracts review, guidelines, and essentials for contracting.
    • Manage department budget and controls expenses effectively.
    • Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.  Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions, and decisions.
    • Comply with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.


    • Juris Doctorate
    • Litigation Experience
    • Minimum five (5) years legal experience.
    • Strong background in a commercial environment.
    • Experience and understanding of EPC contract required.
    • Awareness of legal and commercial risks and the ability to balance risks against business benefit.
    • Effective management of outside counsel.
    • Strong negotiation skills.
    • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong organization skills including the ability to prioritize and plan work.
    • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, Lotus Notes, and other Company and discipline specific software applications
