  • Overview

    Responsible for the collection, analysis and extrapolation of market data and intelligence from multiple industry sources to provide strategic guidance to the Linde Engineering organization on key industry trends and positioning of technology portfolio and key offerings.

    Responsibilities

    • The Strategic Market Analyst shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
    • Collection of market data and intelligence from a variety of industry reports, data sources, public announcements, and field sales.
    • Use market resources, such as supply and demand curves to predict the investment trends that favor our technology portfolio and key offerings.
    • Use of analytical methods to analyze market dynamics and identify strategic clients that will invest in North American markets
    • Utilize market data and intelligence to extrapolate information and issue routine reports on market trends and drivers that impact Linde Engineering’s business portfolio
    • Maintain all information, data, and reporting for market intelligence and data trends
    • Provide economic models to allow Linde to improve its competitive position with respect to securing plant sales.  As requested, determine an estimated Return on Investment for customers as a benchmark for analysis of design alternatives
    • Coordinate with Divisions, Business Units and Marketing to develop target messages for individual market segments to position Linde Engineering offerings
    • Support Divisions, Business Units, and Sales to develop Financial Forecasting models for order intake
    • Support sales, marketing, and business development activities related to analyst responsibilities 
    • Maintain models to monitor the customer Return on Investment.  Sample information that is captured includes

    o   The price of crude oil (West Texas Intermediate)

    o   The price of natural gas (Henry Hub or equivalent

    o   The price of ethane (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The price of ethylene (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The price of propane (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The price of propylene (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The price of iso butane (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The price of normal butane (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The price of pentane and heavier components (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The price of gasoline (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The price of diesel (US Gulf Coast)

    o   The number of natural gas drilling rigs in operation

    o   The number of oil drilling rigs in operation

    o   Chemical plant output index

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or related field with emphasis in energy economics.  
    • Master’s in Business Administration degree is preferred.
    • Five (5) or more years of experience.
    • Ability to demonstrate knowledge or prior experience of developing and executing similar analyst activities.
    • Effective and creative research and analytical skills
    • Ability to evaluate opportunities with respect to their value to Linde customers
    • Broad understanding of commercial market data sources
    • Advanced organizing and planning skills
    • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, Salesforce, and other Company and discipline specific software applications
    • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company
    • Effective presentation skills with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company
