  • Overview

    Responsible for providing primary leadership to the Construction field staff.  Assist the Vice President Construction, Project Construction Managers, and Project Managers in establishing project strategy, plans, and construction execution philosophies. Primary focus on leadership of Construction management site teams for implementation of execution strategy and plans and management of the interface between site personnel and home office engineering.


    The Field Operations Manager shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    • Overall support, direction and management during the Construction portion of a Project, from proposal preparation to handover of the plant, as required, to support the designated Project team. Specific emphasis shall be focused on overall management of site Safety, Construction Management site teams, site management of subcontractors, and coordination of Company field personnel.
    • Oversight of the Construction Management site teams and facilitation of communication and interaction among the functional representatives, internal and external, especially between field operations and home office Project team members.
    • Assure that subcontract documents are understood and properly managed by the Construction Management site team for subcontract administration and management.
    • Effectively represent Construction Management Team in all requests towards office engineering support and clarifications.
    • Work with the Construction Site Manager to establish and implement the Construction Management infrastructure as required for each Project in accordance with applicable Policies, and Work Instructions.
    • Assure proper use of progress monitoring techniques for each subcontractor, in accordance with the applicable Policies and Work Instructions, or as may be required for a specific contract.
    • Participate in review and approval of Field Change Notices as required.
    • Make periodic trips to Construction sites to evaluate Safety, quality, progress, and overall status. Manage resolution of all site issues affecting team performance.
    • Provide required support of the Construction Management team. Analyze site organization and implement improvements in Construction Management function at the project site.
    • In close cooperation with Head of Construction Execution, manage Construction project budget and controls expenses effectively with special focus on Construction Management team expenses.
    • Recommend new processes or revision to existing processes where needed to improve Safety, quality or overall performance. Oversee implementation of such new or revised processes.
    • Participate in Project Meetings as required.
    • Manage field staffing workload to insure Construction objectives are accomplished in a Safe, timely, and cost effective manner. Manage increases and/or decreases in field staffing as required for Project requirements.
    • Ensure all aspects of field Construction operations are executed as Company policy dictates in regard to safety, quality, environment, and client specifications.
    • Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.  Consults with Vice President Construction and Human Resources as appropriate.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions and decisions.


    • BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
    • 10 or more years experience managing a $25 million or greater construction project.
    • Possess a broad understanding of each construction discipline and overall construction management.
    • Experience in management and workflows of engineering disciplines is a plus.
    • Effective leadership skills.
    • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, Lotus Notes, and other Company software applications.
    • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
