    The Process & Environmental Safety Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary project team and is responsible for Process, Plant & Environmental Safety with regard to all engineering and design aspects for the project execution. The Process & Environmental Safety Engineer shall be responsible for all engineering phases from proposal, basic, detail, construction and commissioning.

    Responsibilities

     

     

    Process Safety Engineer duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Compliance of process system design with established corporate, company, client, government, and national consensus standards and specifications in the area of process safety - this includes guidance for other disciplines as it relates to proposed technical solutions and plant design.
    • Implementation of Process Safety requirements into P&IDs as further described below.
    • Determination of mechanical design data (pressure and temperature) for all pressure equipment and piping
    • Allocation, load calculation, design and specification of safety relief valves and rupture disks.
    • Determination of required Safety Integrity Levels (SIL)
    • Conducting of SIL or LOPA reviews in a multidisciplinary team in accordance with consensus standards such as ISA 84.00.01 and IEC 61511.
    • Applying expertise in risk assessment and compliance to the performance of process safety reviews in accordance with governing regulations using techniques such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), What-If Studies, and What-If/Checklist Studies
    • Design and specification of blowdown, flare header and unit systems, Emergency Block in and Depressurizing Systems.
    • Determination of the safety distances for the plant layout based on qualitative or quantitative risk analysis (e.g. consequence analysis) and assurance of compliance with customer requirements and governing regulations.
    • Design of Fire Protection Systems, Fire & Gas Detection Systems, Explosion Protection measures
    • Technical support and guidance on noise and vibration, emissions, wastes and effluent treatment issues.
    • Support for Environmental Authority Approval
    • Supporting development and continuous improvement of company process safety standards and specifications to promote understanding of and compliance with process safety requirements by project teams.
    • Documenting action items and coordinating company responses to ensure prompt closure, where appropriate. May include report development, action item tracking, or development of closure strategies for action items depending on client and project needs.Promoting process safety within the organization.
    • Fostering a cooperative environment between organizational entities on process safety issues.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions and decisions.

    Qualifications

    • BS in chemical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 8 years’ relevant experience in process plant engineering and design in EPC company.
    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) Certificate is desirable
    • ISA S84 certification is desirable
    • Effective conflict management skills, both technically and interpersonal.
    • Ability to work in a multicultural environment, exposure to project execution in global work share teams as well as international machine vendors
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills including background in problem solving techniques such as Six Sigma or Lean.
    • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company
    • Deep knowledge of relevant API, ASME, NEC, NFPA and other industry standards
    • Working knowledge of ISA Standards and International Codes.
    • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, Lotus Notes and other Company and discipline specific software applications.
