  • Overview

    The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will be part of a multi-discipline project team and is responsible for Instrumentation & Controls regarding engineering and design aspects for project execution. Instrumentation & Controls Engineer shall be responsible for all engineering phases, i.e. proposal, basic, detail, construction and commissioning.


    The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer shall be responsible for the following activities but not limited to:

    • Responsible for the design and development of instrumentation systems for chemical, petrochemical, and oil & gas industry.
    • Preparation of technical specifications for field instruments including Pressure, Flow, Level, Temperature, Valves, Analyzers, and Metering Skids.
    • Review & approve various instrumentation construction engineering documents including installation details, cable schedules, and Material Take Off (MTO) in compliance with recognized industry code & safety standards and client specifications.
    • Provide technical support for inquiries, technical bid evaluation and recommendations, purchase specifications, vendor drawing review, and inspection to procurement.
    • Ensure local best practice design is applied during project phases for competitive and cost-effective procurement and construction.
    • Prepare instrumentation engineering documents including Instrument Index and Logics.
    • Prepare instrumentation calculations for control valves, flow orifices, and relief valves.
    • Prepare instrumentation calculations for Intrinsically Safe System and Safety Integrated System.
    • Assist in the technical development of project P&IDs.
    • Coordinate and participate in internal and external design reviews.
    • Provide technical support for inspection and test, construction, and commissioning.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in communications, actions and decisions.


    • BS/MS in Instrumentation / Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Familiarity with natural gas processing & treating equipment and modular construction.
    • 6 ~ 8 years of relevant experience in process plant engineering and design in EPC company.
    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) Certificate of Registration is desirable
    • ISA84 / TÜV Rheinland Safety Instrumented System expert certification is desirable
    • Selection of appropriate type of I & C field Instruments for a given application in chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas industry
    • Ability to work in a multicultural environment, exposure to project execution in global work share teams as well as international vendors
    • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
    • Understanding of workflow within an EPC engineering company environment.
    • Working knowledge of relevant API, ASME, NEC, NFPA, ISA and other industry standards
    • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, Lotus Notes, Outlook and other Company and discipline specific software applications such as SmartPlaant Instrumentation (SPI)-INtools.
    • Familiarity with 3D CAD tools (PDS intergraph Smart 3D) & 2D CAD tools (AutoCad, Microstation, SmartSketch).
    • Possess a positive attitude, supports change & able to apply new ways of working within set timelines.
