  • Overview

    The Product Manager (PrM) for Fired Capital Equipment (FE) is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of the technological improvement of FE product line. The product manager supports business development, sales efforts, and execution strategy for the respective FE product(s) including Steam Methane Reformers, Ethylene Cracking Furnaces, Thermal Oxidizers, Flameless thermal oxidizers and LNG Vaporizers.

    The FE Product Manager is key to the business success of the FE product line and should proactively anticipate changing markets, improvements necessary in FE product line to maintain an edge over competitors, and should function as a leader within the product line promotion.

    Responsibilities

    The FE Product Manager, shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    • Definition of technical improvement potential for the respective FE product(s) including but not limited to Steam Methane Reformers, Ethylene Cracking Furnaces, EDC furnaces, Thermal and Flameless Thermal Oxidizers, LNG Vaporizers, General Refinery Fired Heaters.
    • Annual planning of development efforts and definition of work packages for the respective FE product(s) together with Global Product Manager-FE.
    • Support of product related activities for marketing, business development, sales and execution among the furnace entities
    • Define relevant measures for implementation of lessons learned
    • Initiation of product related improvement processes
    • Analysis and evaluation of product strengths
    • Provision of any kind of product relevant information to concerned Linde entities such as up-to-date brochures and presentations
    • Support business development, sales and execution with alternative technical and/or cost optimization
    • Ensure flow of information between the key positions in the concerned Linde entities
    • Develop Minimum Requirements with the concerned Linde entities and ensure compliance with them (design harmonization, estimation, procurement and execution)
    • Expedite compliance with Linde Engineering minimum technical and HSE requirements (essentials) across the concerned Linde entities
    • Surveillance of global product development and trends
    • Assistance to FE entities in exploring new applications
    • Work closely with FE process engineers during important proposals and projects
    • Work closely with project managers during execution phase of major projects to implement key features of the development in product line
    • Assist the proposal managers and sales staff to successfully sell projects.
    • Provide input for estimator for cost optimization of the fired capital equipment.
    • Give technical presentations at client office or conference.
    • Provide guidance and support to other members of the group.
    • Assist in the development and/or revision of FE process department procedures and work instructions, as well as standard specifications.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions and decisions.

     

    Qualifications

    • BS in Engineering or Sciences (Chemical, Mechanical, Physics or Chemistry)
    • Five years’ experience in FE products, sales, process, operation, or mechanical design of fired equipment (steam reformers, olefins furnaces, fired heaters for refinery or chemical application or thermal oxidizers)
    • Thermal oxidation equipment sales, design, or operation experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of current product cost and competition situation
    • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Advanced computer skills.
    • Possess working knowledge of commonly applicable standards and codes, with respect to tube materials, design criteria and equipment design, thickness calculations; likewise, with insulating and refractory materials, heat loss, storage and thickness calculations.
