  • Overview

    Responsible for evaluation and analysis of the project cost forecasts; including Cost Accounting as well as Cost Forecasting (driving project cost forecast results) at an expert level.   

    Responsibilities

    The Sr Project Cost Controller shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    • Constantly evaluate and update the accuracy of the project cost forecast (Estimate at Completion – EAC) by assessing actual cost incurred and physical progress achieved for all phases of a project (Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction, Commissioning).
    • Set-up/update Earned Value Management Systems for project progress tracking.
    • Provide efficiency control by comparing actual and planned man-hours.
    • Set up and maintain jobs (i.e. structure and budget in SAP ERP system).
    • Support Project Managers by collecting all relevant progress and cost data from Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction, and Accounting.
    • Consolidate data in Project Cost Report for Project Manager’s review and approval.
    • Prepare project cash flow.
    • Work with Shop Scheduler / Controller with monthly shop cost reporting.
    • Work with Field Scheduler / Controller with monthly construction cost reporting.
    • Support Project Manager in estimating and incorporating change orders.
    • Support Project Manager in contingency management.
    • Support all other Cost Controllers on projects outside those they are directly assigned.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions and decisions.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ten (10) years’ experience in cost forecasting, cost accounting and/or project accounting, budgeting/estimating.
    • This requires an expert level Project Cost Controller skill set (industry standard Cost Control standards and practices as defined by AACEi).
    • Intermediate to advanced level skills with Microsoft Office software; Word, Excel, Access and database technology.
    • Detail oriented.
    • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks/projects.
    • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
