  • Overview

    The Senior Estimator will continue the development of Linde Engineering North America, Inc. specific estimating tools, and prepare and issue estimates for the various North American Business Units. The Senior Estimator will also assist with the development and maintenance of standard methods of estimating and third party proprietary estimating software such as Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, Oracle Crystal Ball and MS Excel.


    The Senior Estimator shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

    • Review client specifications, prepare, coordinate, review and distribute estimates in accordance with Company policy and procedures, Workflow, and Work Instructions.
    • Delegate estimating activities as required for all proposals and estimates in a business-like, efficient, productive and organized manner.
    • Prepare lists of estimated quantities and man-hours for on-module and off-module work for the fabrication shop scope of work for a given proposal or project.
    • Prepare lists of quantities of field work for estimating the construction requirements of a project.
    • Conduct detailed reviews of all estimates generated internally. Develop action plans for deficiencies, ensure follow-through.
    • Review bid documentation with Proposal Manager and identify key areas of risk. Develop plan to address each in the Estimate.
    • Re-estimate and issue man-hour estimates and material cost estimates as requested by project management.
    • Coordinate and consolidate material and labor values for all estimates into approved Linde Engineering North America, Inc. and Linde Group formats and reports as required.
    • Prepare reports and analysis pertinent to estimating as requested by management.
    • Prepare estimates for Job Change Notices (JCN).
    • Attend project proposal site visits as requested.
    • Maintain current Unit Rates and Material cost data.
    • Assist in developing and retaining estimating procedures and methods.
    • Train estimators and act as a mentor as required.


    • BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum 10 years estimating experience.
    • Minimum 2 years valve estimating experience.
    • Advanced knowledge of Aspen Capital Cost Estimator.
    • AACE Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) certification.
    • Advanced computer skills; Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, Microsoft Office Software, and other Company and discipline specific software applications.
    • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
    • Attention to detail.
