  • Overview

    Provide quality process designs in the specific area of Product development and standards maintenance.  Assure proper process information is developed, reviewed and made available before sale of product. 


    The Process Engineer shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: 

    • Utilize process design methodologies, system and tools as defined by Company.
    • Participate in the effort of technology transfer amongst product lines and/or Company locations
    • When applicable, establishment of common working platform between Linde Engineering North America, Inc. and other Linde Engineering offices
    • Provide information throughout the various proposal, engineering and construction phases to the proposal and project teams with regard to all aspects of Process Engineering.
    • Provide expertise in the areas of Linde Engineering North America’s technology
    • Perform calculations required for sizing and check rating of standard process systems such as cryogenic, mechanical refrigeration, amine treating, fractionation, and adsorptive dehydration.
    • Perform process simulations and develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and Heat and Material Balances
    • Perform an Exergy analysis of the process design and compare it to previous Linde or published designs to determine if the process design is competitive
    • Perform Capital, Utility, and Product Value Estimates and then prepare a Project Evaluation to allow determination of the viability of the project.
    • Develop sizing information for Process Equipment (compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, distillation columns, separators, reactors, etc.) and provide information in the form of equipment data sheets
    • Provide technical expertise to the project execution team
    • Assist in developing plant control philosophy
    • Calculate plant recoveries and utility requirements. Recommend Guarantee Levels
    • In cooperation with the Systems Engineer, develop Line Sizes and Definition of Line Sizes
    • Perform Hydraulic Calculations
    • Periodically participate in HAZOP studies
    • Perform front end engineering design studies, as required.
    • Assist in Plant start-up and performance testing, as required
    • Train sales and execution teams in current product and new product capabilities and range of applicability.
    • Develop and update P&ID’s for standard and new products, including:
    • Line sizes for all lines shown on the P&IDs
    • Hydraulic calculations for all lines, including pump NPSH and thermosiphon reboilers
    • Line lists, including testing of piping
    • Logic diagrams and cause & effect charts for the facility
    • Alarm & Setpoint List
    • Process data sheets for utility equipment
    • Process requirements for all instruments
    • Review equipment drawings regarding process relevant aspects
    • Participate in the model reviews of the plant.
    • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions and decisions.


    • Five (5) years of process engineering experience.
    • Demonstrate proven skills in the areas process design and engineering, start-up and performance testing.
    • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering.
    • Graduate level courses or degrees are preferred.
    • Strong working knowledge of one or more process simulators such as UniSim, HYSYS, and VMGsim.
    • Intermediate to advanced level skills with Microsoft Office software and Windows Operating system. Strong Excel skills required.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Knowledge and handling about data-based process calculation programs are preferred.
    • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate effectively process concepts to both in-house clients and Linde Process Plants clients.
    • Creative and innovative.
