  • Overview

    Supervise the Fabrication Department in a productive and safe manner while maintaining the required quality standards.   

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor safety of all employees and provide guidance for a safe and productive work environment.
    • Conduct daily Departmental Toolbox Meetings.  Review safety information of work related topics.
    • Estimate work using LPP standards to establish production requirements that meet project schedules.
    • Develop a Weekly Plan that meets the requirements of the Shop Schedule.  The Weekly Plan shall be based on drawings and material available at time of Planning Meeting.
    • Make sure all personnel have been trained to use the appropriate Work Instructions and monitor their work to assure the Work Instructions are being followed.
    • Improve Work Instructions or develop new ones as required.
    • Assign duties to qualified personnel that will support production schedules and meet quality standards. Adjust work schedules and personnel as needed to meet production requirements.
    • Analyze and resolve production problems. Advise management of problems that will affect the paint production line or down line customers.
    • Implement and adhere to all ISO-9000 procedures, encourage Kaizen participation and direct group discussions and training on these topics.
    • Monitor, track and verify production activities on the shop floor utilizing production recording tools.
    • Plan and conduct periodic inventories of consumable materials to support WIP.
    • Review and issue drawings, including revisions, to the Shop floor in a timely manner.
    • Monitor the actual fabrication hours being used in relation to the current budget.
    •  Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively.  Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.  Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
    • Review safety infractions with employees. Prepare Safety Investigation reports as required.
    • Monitor Housekeeping requirements.
    •  Issue, monitor and maintain log of tools/tool requirements and respond with a request to purchase tools as required.
    • Assure all of his/her subordinates follow all of the safety policies and procedures of LPP as outlined in the Safety Manual and assure all subordinates attend safety training events and meetings.

    Qualifications

    • Associate Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field required.
    • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience with a lean environment and having a minimum 3 years in a leadership role.
    • Trained in 5S and lean manufacturing. (preferred)
    •  Motivated self-starter with effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company.
    • Effective computer skills: Excel, Word, Access and Lotus notes.
    • Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Effective organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and plan work.
    • Strong leadership skill and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
    • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
    • Blue print reading with comprehension skills.

    • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
