Overview

The successful candidate will be LEA’s single point of contact for all supply chain issues related to commodities including life cycle management, overall supplier relationship, proposals and purchases, aftermarket support, escalation of issues and supplier performance. Acts as the liaison between Global / Regional Suppliers and our Internal customers (Linde Engineering, Global COE, Global Plant Operations Global Hydrogen, and Research & Development) management.  The Commodity manager creates winning solutions through knowledge of the industry, collaboration on market opportunities, use of frame agreements (FA’s), introduction of new supplier options, knowledge of equipment and ability to deliver results through high impact negotiations. 

Responsibilities

The Sr. Procurement Commodity Manager shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for the strategic sourcing, commercialization, supplier development and contract management of industrial Compression – Rotating Equipment (Centrifugal In-line, Centrifugal - Integrally Geared, Reciprocating, Turbines/Expanders, etc.)
  • Collaborating with LE strategic sourcing team to create, maintain and negotiate local and/or global frame agreements consistent with Linde Engineering product line strategy and business interests.
  • Supporting projects at preparation of Project Procurement Strategy/Project Procurement Plan and the selection of suppliers for bidder lists.
  • Using available forecasts, understand and identify all corresponding risks and opportunities and obtain best in class supplier price and delivery performance.
  • Conduct timely review of all proposals and ensure most competitive opportunity is included in capital project proposal estimate. Facilitate technical & commercial TCO evaluations with stakeholders.
  • Actively manage key suppliers and foster strategic relationships creating a competitive advantage for Linde Engineering.
  • Establish KPI’s with Key suppliers to effectively drive supplier behaviors. Lead supplier measurement process with relevant Engineering, Operations and Business input.  
  • Lead negotiations for supplier back charges and claims.
  • Understand supplier’s cost stack and use total cost of ownership levers to achieve cost reduction / cost avoidance, cycle time reduction, improved services, increased reliability or productivity improvements.
  • Conduct supplier workshops as required, to secure competitive knowledge and latest technology.
  • Develop and maintain competitive equipment costs for all product line plants.
  • Understand supplier capacity and lead time issues, and effectively communicate risks back to project team and business.
  • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Business Integrity. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions and decisions.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor ’s degree in Engineering (BS) (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical) preferred. MBA preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of industry experience with Rotating Equipment (MEE) in direct support of capital projects required.
  • PMP certification is desirable.
  • Experience with Commercial Contracts is a plus.
  • International Association of Contract & Commercial Management certification required within one year of start date.
