Overview

The process development specialist role in Cryogenic R&D will play a vital role in the development, commissioning, and performance assessment of new plant technologies.  You will also have the opportunity optimize and troubleshoot existing plant processes.    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are critical for success. You should also be willing to travel globally and be comfortable interfacing with people from a variety of cultures and business backgrounds.  The incumbent must be a creative person with drive to take new process concepts from inception to final commercialization.  

Responsibilities

The Development Professional, Process Development & Distillation R&D (RDSP), R&D Cryogenics & Workshop shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

      • Identify new R&D programs aligned with the needs of the organization and associated roadmaps for the respective product lines.
      • Lead conceptualization, development, and economic evaluation of new cryogenic process technologies to serve fast-growing markets, such as electronics, steel and iron, and natural gas liquefaction
      • Interface with Business, Operations and Engineering to understand plant requirements for informing design improvements
      • Use process simulation and optimization tools to develop, demonstrate and communicate process improvements to engineering and operations collaborators
      • Obtain patents and contribute to intellectual property strategy around key new technologies
      • Review state-of-the-art developments in cryogenic technology and champion their adoption
      • Engage in and lead plant troubleshooting efforts, including interfacing with operators, reading P&IDs, and tailoring test plans to plant capabilities

Qualifications

      • Thesis Master’s (MS) or Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering
      • 3 or more years of computational experience in a technical field
      • Familiarity with chemical process simulation and optimization
      • Familiarity with process equipment such as heat exchangers, distillation columns, pumps, and compressors is preferred.
      • Hands on experience with either laboratory or field processes is a plus but not a requirement.
