The equipment and construction development professional role in Cryogenic R&D provides ample opportunities to work and collaborate with diverse groups of internal stakeholders such as engineering, operations, procurement and R&D as well as external ones including suppliers, development partners and research consortiums. You will gain experience with and learn state-of-the-art practices in cryogenic plant technology to assume a technical leadership role with respect to development, design, engineering, selection as well as qualification of equipment and suppliers. 


The Development Professional, Equipment and Construction R&D (RDSE), R&D Cryogenics & Workshop shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:


  • Identify new R&D programs aligned with the needs of the organization and associated roadmaps for the respective product lines.
  • Lead conceptualization, development and economic evaluation of impactful cryogenic plant related research and development programs
  • Identify opportunities for intellectual property protection and work with IP team to file for patent protection
  • Review state-of-the-art developments in cryogenic technology and, if appropriate, champion their adoption
  • Participate in cross-functional efforts to improve total cost of ownership of industrial gas plants
  • Conduct risk reviews of new designs and if required implement adequate mitigations
  • Facilitate communication between suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Review equipment specifications, drawings and engineering design memorandums
  • Provide technical support and consulting to engineering and operations as needed
  • Carryout performance analysis and troubleshooting of equipment installed in field applications
  • Provide mentoring and development to research staff
  • Learn and abide by the Linde Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions, and decisions



  • Thesis Master’s (MS) or Ph.D. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 10 or more years of experience working in heat transfer, thermodynamics and/or fluid mechanics
  • Static equipment design and operating experience specific to chemical plants
  • 5 or more years experience in project management specific to budget, scheduling, and quality/results
  • Demonstrated success commercializing projects in an R&D setting
